These types of works fall within the scope of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. Mansard conversions and chimney breast removals typically involve structural alterations to shared walls, while extensions often require excavation close to a neighbour’s property. As such, the Building Owner was legally required to serve Party Wall Notices on the adjoining owners.
